Comparison between SMD, GOB, and COB LED panel technologies

SMD, GOB & COB Panels

We select the panel type according to where your screen will be installed and your budget requirements.

Surface Mounted Diode (SMD) is the standard industry-grade technology. The light diodes are soldered directly to the circuit board. Highly recommended for standard indoor walls, concert screens, and outdoor billboards where the panels are out of physical reach.

  • Most cost-effective
  • High brightness
  • Easy diode-level replacement
  • Mature manufacturing

Glue-on-Board (GOB) applies a clear protective optical sealant over SMD modules. This layer shields the delicate diodes from impacts, liquids, and humidity. It is the perfect upgrade for shopping malls, directories, and corporate receptions where people might bump into the screen.

  • Impact & shock resistant
  • Waterproof screen front
  • Anti-static design
  • Smooth visual surface

Chip-on-Board (COB) mounts micro-LED chips directly onto the board and coats the surface with a continuous protective resin. Eliminating individual pixel package frames, COB creates ultra-rich black ratios and extreme viewing angles. Best suited for high-end corporate conference rooms, broadcast rooms, and 4K close-proximity displays.

  • Deepest contrast ratios
  • Ultra-fine pixel pitches
  • High energy savings
  • Widest viewing angles
